Colt made their Trooper revolver from 1953 to 1969. The Trooper Mark III used a redesigned lock mechanism and the trigger was much improved. The Trooper Mark III was made 1969 to 1983 in blue and nickel finish with 4-, 6-, and 8-inch barrel lengths. Our Colt Trooper Mark III is a 4" barrel blued finish.
When Colt came out with the Mark III, it was the working man’s Python. The Trooper Mark III uses a serrated front sight which is pinned in place, and the rear sight is fully adjustable.
Coming in at 42 ounces the Colt Trooper is heavier than most 357 Magnums of its class, BUT because of this it shows the least felt recoil. The trigger is a double-action and it’s pull is at 15.5 pounds. However when shot single action the trigger pull comes in at around 12.5 pounds. While the action is heavy, the action is very smooth.
Our Colt Trooper Mark III comes with target wood aftermarket grips that look stunning. Using the “J” frame, this is a rugged and highly accurate double-action 357 magnum revolver. When the Colt Trooper Mark III was introduced it the.357 Magnum Trooper was the premier offering of the new product line, from Colt featuring a heavy barrel with a solid top rib as well as a shroud which protected the ejection rod.
The Colt Trooper Mark III is not a custom grade target revolver, but it incorporates many of the touches popularized by custom revolvers in the 1930s and after World War Two. The Colt Trooper Mark III is a purposeful, businesslike handgun that you will find pleasing.
