Description Technical Specs
The Model 336 came to life directly from the Marlin Model 1893 rifle which was produced from 1893 to 1936. The rifle uses a locking bolt system and a two-piece firing pin. The Marlin 336 uses a solid-top receiver made of forged steel and incorporated side ejection of fired cartridges.

The Model 336 has been in continuous production from 1948 to the present day, and is no longer in production after the sale of Marlin to Ruger by Remington Firearms. It is hoped that production will resume of this fine rifle. The 336 uses a full pistol-grip walnut stock, 20 inch barrel and full length tube magazine. The 336 uses a stronger and simpler round-profile chrome-plated breech bolt, a redesigned cartridge carrier, an improved extractor, and coil-type main and trigger springs in place of the flat springs used in earlier Marlin rifles. The receiver and all major working parts of the Model 336 are constructed of steel forgings. With its flat top receiver and side ejection port, the Marlin 336 is prime candidate for use with a rifle scope.

The .32 Winchester Special (or .32 WS) is a rimmed cartridge created in October 1901. The cartridge is based on the .30-30 Winchester but has a larger bullet diameter. More powerful than the 30-30 but with less recoil than a 30-06. The 32 Special uses bullets of .321 diameter and are limited to 170 grain and 165 grain. Ballistics of the 32 Special are similar to the .30-30 cartridge and its .308 caliber (7.62mm) bullet, but the larger diameter .321 (8.15 mm) bullet of the .32 Special creates a larger wound. The .32 WS has about 5-10% more energy than the .30-30 at close ranges, and less at longer ranges due to increased drag due to the .321's greater diameter and reduced sectional density.
